what is the reason of generating eddy current. what rae the effects of it & applications where it is used? |

| 1 | edu | What is eddy current when the magnetic flux is established in the core it tries to establish a current in the plane which is perpendicular to the direction of flux. this current is known as eddy current. to decrease this current the core is made up of thin plates. this eddy current increases the core loss of the machine. |

As was said, the eddy current comes to existance when a conducter moves in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic flux lines. this produces current as well as a forces which opposes the movement. In Electrical machinery this effect is undesirable and techniques are utilzed to reduce this current and the resultant force. On the other hand there are growing applications of this phenomenon such as Focko Brake where this force is used to reduce the speed of a mooving conductor. Hope this Helped! |
